So who is Katie? …
After graduating college with my photography degree, I went on to work in the fashion industry for 2.5 years while building my wedding photography business on the side. I learned and absorbed so much from my experiences working first at an agency and then at an e-commerce photo studio. Meanwhile, I took my time building Katie Christ Photography, learning from and meeting with peers to figure out the best course of action for every corner of my business. I assisted and second shot many weddings, over 50 in my first year, just to make sure I had all the tools I needed to take on weddings of my own. I finally took the leap to take on wedding photography full time at the beginning of 2024. I feel extremely comfortable and confident in my abilities, knowing the ins and outs necessary to capture a wedding day seamlessly.
On a more personal note, I have always been drawn to vibrant colors, interested in film & understanding the technical side of camera equipment, love to spend time outside, have an appreciation for design (especially Scandinavian art and design), anything vintage (mid century modern is my jam), and crafting (my long-standing obsessions are knitting and pottery). I’d describe myself as someone who is a loyal friend, very hard working, creative, a calm/level-headed presence, down to earth, and a great gift giver. I grew up on the south shore of Long Island but live in Brooklyn now, a place and community I really love to call home.
Why do I do what I do?
Growing up I always loved flipping through family photo albums - not only to remember the memories I might have forgotten from my childhood, but also to see my parents as kids, my grandparents on their wedding day, and so on. When you think of a family photo album you imagine tons of candids; snapshots from a family vacation, a backyard barbecue, maybe moments with relatives who are no longer with us. Documented moments in time of laughter, love, joy, every emotion imaginable.
I’m passionate about documenting these moments and soon-to-be memories on a wedding day. I lean on observation to freeze the details of the day, capture the emotions that were felt, and ultimately capture the story of the day rather than orchestrate it. I am, of course, there to help you with posing when needed, which I love to do as well (family group shots or guidance with couples portraits for example), but I thrive in the documentarian side of wedding photography. Capturing genuine moments in time that help tell the story of your day. This is why I do what I do, and also why I love what I do.

What is it like to work together?
When we work together I’m there to be a support during the planning process, to be a friend on the wedding day, and to photograph your day with care.
Leading up to the big day, I’ll help you to formulate a timeline, work out a schedule, and offer advice or answer questions you might have (photo or non photo related!). On your wedding day I’ll be alongside you for most of the day. I’m very adaptable, able to stay calm during stressful moments, and feel that one of my most valuable skills is my ability to read emotions. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, I’ll be there to keep you calm, talk you through it, and adjust our plans. If you’re anticipating the first look and just cannot wait to be there reunited with your partner, I’ll capture these emotions and then give you two a few extra moments together to soak it all in. I’m an oldest sister to two younger sisters, so you can count on me to be organized, keep the peace & calm, guide you through the day, and be someone you can depend on.
I’m there for you as an extra friend on your day to help keep things running smoothly. It might sound cheesy, but in the process of working together I end up with such a sweet spot for my couples. I’m right there with you at the wedding; cheering you on, feeling these emotions, befriending your loved ones, and taking it all in to document your day with the same attention & care a friend might have.

I’ve been vegetarian since 2015
I stay busy in my free time by traveling with friends, playing around with film photography, crocheting, sewing quilts with my Grandma, taking a local ceramics class, and most recently knitting!
Skiing gets me through the winter, but fall is my favorite season
